The Hobbit Production Video #5 is Here!

December 23, 2011

As if the first trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey weren’t enough of a holiday surprise for fans, Peter Jackson has just released (via the film’s Facebook page) a brand-new production video from the set, clocking in at nearly 12 minutes and jam-packed with extensive behind-the-scenes footage. Check it out in the player below!

“The Hobbit” follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakensheild. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers.

Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever… Gollum.

Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s “precious” ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities… A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.

“An Unexpected Journey” will be followed up by The Hobbit: There and Back Again on December 13, 2013.

Charlize Theron Explains Her Prometheus Character

December 23, 2011

With the first trailer now online, anticipation for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus is only going to grow in the months to come. Today, Total Film caught up with one of the film’s leads, Charlize Theron, to discuss her role in the sci-fi thriller.

“I play somewhat of a villain in it,” she says. “…Shes not a believer. Shes not a scientist. She is the red tape that everyone has to go through… Shes working with the company thats sponsoring this whole thing and you can feel she definitely has an agenda, which we pick up in the third act. Shes more quiet thunder.

Also starring Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Logan Marshall-Green and Patrick Wilson, Prometheus hits theaters on June 8th.

The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery.
